Well, Katy thought she was coming to YSP to see how I was getting on, but I put her to good use instead and she became the first to wear the prototype metal shoes (see picture below). I wanted to create a simple clear action that created a sound, so I came up with the idea of jumping on a metal box with metal shoes. The sound is clear and distinctive in its context (even if the recording is not, listen carefully for a small tap) and the action can still be identified even from a distance, which gives a decent delay between seeing the action of the jump and hearing the sound of the landing metal.

I need to sort out the Velcro straps on the shoes as it kept coming off.

Transmitter Tower Images taken over different times and weather conditions.
The Tower has been looming over me for sometime and to be honest I’ve not known quite what to do with it, I took these photo’s when I was thinking about it as a huge visual marker on the landscape a sculptural form that highlights the light and weather conditions around it. But although I find the photo’s appealing, there is something not working about it, so I’ve decided to try and get access to make a sound recording of the lift journey from the bottom of the shaft to the top which takes around 7 minutes. I’ve spent lots of 7 minutes periods looking at the Tower from the park, trying to imagine the lift journey and it’s time frame.
