Since 2000 I have been collecting hand drawn maps, whenever somebody has drawn directions for me to get some where or described a place, I have kept them. At last they seem to make sense as a series and relate to the work I’ve been developing in the park, so I have gone through a selection process and chosen 11 maps, which I will frame and show together. To me they question the idea of accuracy, precision, truth and fact, they’re not measured and the scale is out, but they make sense and have got me from A to B. Like all maps they are selective to information that goes on them, these seem to adopt a need to know basis. They also show some insight into the person who draws them, basic, scribbles and some are more considered. They also show something of the context, place and moment when they were made, on a beer map or back of an envelope. I like the contrast between them a OS Maps.
