I was invited by Helmut Lemke to be a part of a collaboration alongside Lee Patterson, Ben Gwilliam and Steve Oliver. We created a piece for Festival Rumlingen. Starting at 1am and finishing with the sunrise Festival Rumlingen happened in Baselland, Swizterland in August 2010. It consisted of five sound works situated in the landscape, all crossing over one another. It included traditional singers „Geisslechlöpfer“, new music compositions with clarinets and trumpets, accordions and percussion and loudspeaker installations. Our contribution was a long thin construction of tape, string and bottles all played by the wind. The audience arrived on coaches and walked the route in the dark, none of the musicians or artists were visible. The composition ended at sunrise with Alpine horns playing and a whip demonstration with an outdoor breakfast.

The Imagined Winter Garden Trail was a collaboration between myself and the local residents & vegetable growers of Sharrow in Sheffield. Following a research period as artist in residence with Grow Sheffields, Community Growers Project, I worked with five local growers to create interventions, installations and performances, which formed the backbone of the trail and was shown to the public for one afternoon only on Saturday 12th December 2009 in Sharrow, Sheffield, it was a chance to see the gardens and growing spaces of Sharrow in a new light, it played with the unused & neglected spaces in our neighbourhood and shared the visions, achievements and memories of some of Sharrows Growers. It was a sunny winter day and over one hundred people turned up and took part in the trail.

6 people are asked to say when they think one minute is up, as they sit silently counting in their minds, the world carries on around them. When they declare the time is up, they are taken out of shot. The credits start rolling at 1 minute exactly after which, those who are left counting are quietly faded from the screen. Click here to watch film in a new tab.

Punctuated only by some kind of moving shadow flying in and out of focus, occasionally revealing itself as a spider suspended from its thread. Click here to see video in a new tab.

Observed Motion.2 The Camera is fixed as is the image, the only movement is that of a tiny dead insect attached to the bottom of open window, which is blown around by the wind.
Attempting to measure one metre paces across the frame, i start close to the camera and move further away until i’m out of shot. The snow on the ground leaves the measured markers and reveals the depth of the field. I was interested in the relationship between the space of the 2d screen and the real space of the land. Click here to watch full video in a new page.
