Grow Sheffield, Artist in Residence, 2009

gslogo1.jpg

Grow Sheffield is an active network of individuals and groups who promote urban organic food growing. They have a number of projects which you can find out about on the Grow Sheffield website. Over the next five months I’ll be artist in residence on the Communinity Growers Programme, which aims to get more people growing to help increase the production of local organic fruit and vegtables in the city. I’ll be exploring the gardens, backyards and windowsills of the local participants. You can read more about how this evolves in my blog.

“Corridor8, a new annual arts magazine showcasing the best in contemporary visual art, architecture, writing and photography, launches in July. International in outlook, intellectual in approach and an unapologetically good read, it profiles some of the UK’s best-known creative practitioners — from Peter Saville and Jon Savage to renowned architect, Will Alsop”.

“We profile the work of eight emerging visual artists who operate along the SuperCity corridor, selected on the basis of the formidable reputations they are forging for themselves internationally and who are cementing the region as a cornerstone of contemporary art practice — Isabel Nolan (Dublin), Bob Levene (Hull), Rachel Goodyear (Manchester/Salford), Simon Le Ruez (Sheffield), Paul Rooney (Liverpool), Matthew Houlding (Todmorden), Freee art collective (Sheffield, Hull and Warrington), Rory Macbeth (Leeds)”.
